About these sessions

“If you can accept one person, one being, one soul in humanity, you have the capacity to accept and love them all.”

Gratitude Series, Part 3 · Thanksgiving Week 2022

During Thanksgiving week 2022, I went live four mornings in a row and gave each one to gratitude. Each morning widened the circle: gratitude for yourself, for family and heritage, for humanity, and on Thanksgiving Day, for the Divine. I teach that gratitude doesn’t have to wait for a reason; you can generate it on your own.

Every session starts in the body. Sit tall, drop a golden cord from the base of your spine to the core of the Earth, and rest your hands on your heart.

On Monday, replay a moment of tremendous gratitude, then turn it toward the place your own genius lives. That one is the hardest for me. On Tuesday, picture the family member, two-footed or four-footed, who is easiest to love, then one who is hard to love, and breathe love from the first to the second. On Wednesday, bathe three roses in golden light: one for you, one for your family, and one for all of humanity. On Thursday, picture the Divine as the ocean and yourself as a drop within it, and carry gratitude from your heart up to the light above your head and back down as grounded love.

The 13 bowls had a week of their own. On Monday, the F bowl jumped and collided with its neighbor. On Thursday, the centers we worked all sat on an F major scale, with F as the heart note. Thanksgiving can be a state you wake up in every day.

About the Gratitude Series

What happens in the body when we feel grateful?

Research on gratitude is still young, but it points in a consistent direction. In one well-known study, people who wrote down a few things they were grateful for each week reported feeling better about their lives and slept a little better than those who did not. Other work links a regular gratitude practice with lower stress and steadier mood. Charleene pairs gratitude with slow breathing into the heart, and slow, even breathing on its own helps the body shift toward rest. In these sessions the two arrive together: a warm memory, a long exhale, and music that lets both settle.

Do I need to celebrate Thanksgiving?

No. The series aired during Thanksgiving week in the United States, and Charleene treats Thanksgiving as a state you can choose on any day. The practices work in any month.

Should I watch them in order?

The four parts aired on consecutive mornings, November 21 to 24, 2022, and each one widens the circle of gratitude: self, family and heritage, humanity, the Divine. Each one also stands on its own.

What is the eighth center?

In Charleene's practice, an eighth energy center sits just above the head, outside the body. In Part 4 she suggests rubbing your hands together and feeling for it.

Which session should I start with?

Part 4, from Thanksgiving Day, is the most-watched. For family gatherings, choose Part 2. If thanking yourself feels hardest, begin with Part 1.
