Questions

About these live sessions

Are these live sound bath meditations free?

Yes. Every live broadcast is free to join on YouTube and Insight Timer, and every replay in this library is free to watch.

When are the live sessions, and where can I join one?

Charleene goes live two to five times a month, usually in the morning (U.S. Eastern time.) Sessions stream simultaneously on YouTube and Insight Timer, on social media platforms, and in the ATTUNED Circle community. Click the REMIND ME ON YOUTUBE button to receive an alert directly from YouTube when sessions go live. Click the GET THE LIVE SCHEDULE button to add the upcoming sessions to your personal calendar, so you never miss a stream.

Do I have to watch live?

No. Each broadcast stays here as a full replay, with chapters so you can go straight to the guided meditation, and a transcript you can read.

Is this a sound bath, a guided meditation, or both?

Both. Most sessions open with conversation, move into an explanation of the science behind the topics discussed, then settle into a guided meditation such as a visualization, a breath practice or a journey. The guided journey is carried throughout by music improvised on the crystal singing bowls tuned to 432 hertz. A handful of studies, in settings from dental surgery to emergency nursing, have found music at 432 Hz slightly more relaxing than the same music at 440 Hz, most consistently a small dip in heart rate. Some sessions emphasize the guided journey; some allow the music to carry the sessions. All are profoundly unique, expanding, and uplifting.

What are chromatic crystal singing bowls tuned to 432 Hz?

Crystal singing bowls made of nearly pure quartz, each bowl tuned to a single pitch. Charleene plays a chromatic set: think of every black and white key of a piano octave, with deeper and higher bowls outside this octave. All bowls are tuned to A = 432 Hz (rather than the standard orchestral 440 Hz.) A full chromatic set lets the music move between keys the way a composition does, so each session has its own harmonic shape.

What makes chromatic crystal singing bowls different from a 7-bowl chakra set?

Most crystal bowl sound baths use a set of seven chakra singing bowls, tuned to the seven notes of one major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. That set holds only the notes of one scale. A chromatic set holds all twelve notes of the octave, so the music can change key, move into minor keys (a C chakra set can't play a C minor chord), and build tension and release through half steps. Charleene still balances the chakras in many sessions; the chromatic set widens what's possible inside that tradition. She calls it the art of sound healing.

How many crystal singing bowls does Charleene play?

Between twenty and twenty-six quartz crystal singing bowls, depending on the setup: usually twenty or twenty-one on a live broadcast, and up to twenty-six in the recording studio. The full set spans C-sharp 3 to E-flat 5, tuned to A = 432 Hz. In classical music each key carries its own character, and a chromatic crystal singing bowl set gives the player that whole palette.

Who is Charleene Closshey?

A classically trained composer, a Billboard Top 40 artist, film and Broadway actor, TEDx speaker, and a frequency researcher completing her PhD in natural medicine. She has hosted these live sessions with her husband and creative partner, filmmaker Jeremy Culver, since 2022.

Why did Charleene start leading live sound healing sessions?

The bowls found her during one of the hardest seasons of her life. While her father was gravely ill, Charleene moved through her own physical and emotional challenges. These crystal bowls seemed the only music that could steady her heart and mind.

“I came to the bowls as a daughter first. When my father was battling cancer, I moved through my own physical challenges and more grief than I knew how to process each day. So, I went looking for music that could help heal and soothe my heart. The bowls did. I knew that if they could do that for me, I believed they could do it for you, too. That’s why these sessions exist, and why every one of them lives here. For you to heal and expand your heart.”— Charleene

The library of these live sessions grew from Charleene's quest to heal her heart, and yours.
